Situation to be solved by project
After two years of war at the East of Ukraine almost nothing has been done at state level for adaptation of IDPs at the new homes and especially in Ivano-Frankivsk region.
Western Ukraine positively accepted first wave of migration from Crimea. Second wave was accepted not so warm and last waves of IDPs from Donbas region irritate local population. At the very beginning some NGOs organized master classes and trainings for children but for the moment there is almost no systematic activities in Ivano-Frankivsk region.
Next priority after helping children is support of their parents, displaced from ATO territories because their psychological health is very important for children psychological state. For the moment the biggest problem for them is communication.
Parents are busy all the time and have no free time for communication with children. They also have no money to spend time with their children at excursion etc.
When we had our summer camp for children some of their parents told us that we have shown to children during 2 weeks more then they have seen for the last 2 years.
Psychologists came to conclusion that whole situation with war resulted in stress among parents the same way as among children.
Children spend almost all of their time in PC, tablet, phone and internet and they are indifferent. They have almost no contacts with local children and other IDPs children.
The first thing we understood in our work with IDPs is that we need to support their social activity for proper adaptation within their new local society.
Solving these problems is the main purpose of our project.
Summer camp we had in July 2016 showed us that requests for visiting the camp were 3 times more than places we had. It means that the work we do is very important. In 2017 we believe that this project will allow children to improve their creative skills. We will also provide rest for children starting from 3 years old while state does not provide any of it until a child is 7 years old.
Project is directed to forming healthy lifestyle and built in such a way so that it could be used as and educative system during school year. Such idea can also be used in any organization for children.
As we know during summer vacation children rest from hard work during school year, recover their energy, health and develop their creative potential. These are main targets of summer daytime camp.
This direction includes complex activity aimed at improving health, providing children with rest and proper care.
It is also required by following needs:
- Continuing of educative process during summer time
- Summer activities for children.
Most of camp participants are refugees’ children from ATO territories and Crimea who live in Ivano-Frankivsk aged 3-14 (up to 30 children session).
